How is it that we can become One? The answer is both simple and very difficult. First of all we ARE ONE! There's nothing that we can ultimately do to separate ourselves for "THE ONE" who created us and sustains us. Of course, if you believe in a literal hell, then you can't quite grasp this concept. And therein is what makes this concept very difficult. One has to purge themselves of a lot of religious and doctrinal brain washing: yes brain washing.
When you step back for a moment and look at the fact that people who call themselves "Christians" (one who is following Christ) winds up NOT FOLLOWING Him, but following Paul, John, Matthew, and many of the unknown authors of the New Testament. If, and that is a big IF, we were following Jesus some things would have to change.
1-We could not carry our racial bias that came forth loud in clear in the November election.
2-We would truly begin the most difficult task of loving our enemies.
3-We'd not belong to a "particular religion" (that one hurts); rather, a local community of lovers. And I say lovers instead of believers for obvious reasons.
The list is much longer and more difficult but the above make my case. Jesus tells us in John 17 that he wants us to experience the communion of the Godhead by being in on the ONENESS that is our true self and not that which the dualitstic mind has created. Our egos simply cannot stand it when someone says something that we don't agree with or feel isn't right.
Being ONE is coming into a whole new realization of who we really ARE and when we get in tough, in sync, and in step (Amos 3:3) with that truth and reality, we and the world begin the true process of transformation. Wanna try it?
